The Vegemite Tales
Sam's thinking about going home... Maddie's thinking about Dan... Dan's thinking with the wrong head... and Eddie's not really thinking at all... Gemma's facing the biggest decision of her stay in London... and Jane just wants the toilet bowl to be clean...
The Vegemite Tales revolves around the lives of a group of young Australians, and one
crazy Italian, sharing a flat in London. Fast paced and extremely funny, it has been described by the press as a stage version of “Friends”.
Written by Australian playwright Melanie Tait, the production started life in a small fringe theatre in west London in 2001 and was an overnight success. Word spread quickly, resulting in a frantic scramble for tickets amongst London’s antipodean community.
A succession of sell-out seasons on the London fringe and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival followed, with the production growing considerably in size, status and breadth of appeal.
The 2004 season completely sold out before opening night, ticket touts appeared outside the theatre, and tickets were traded on eBay.
In 2006 the show had its West End debut, with a hit 12 week extended season at
The Venue in Leicester Square. The production returned for a second West End
season at The Venue for 14 weeks in 2007.
